EKIT plans major push for mobile SIM and online journal system

Travel SIM card and trip planning provider EKIT is aiming to provide up to 200,000 of its new journals to consumers by July next year.
The Australia-based company has partnerships with Trailfinders and Flight Centre to roll out its system to UK travellers.
Chief operating officer Andrew McDonald told Travolution the journal initiative has also been pushed out through Orbitz, Travelocity and Harvey World Travel elsewhere in the world.
Customers who buy one of the SIM cards are invited to start an online journal, hosted by EKIT on a dedicated platform.
McDonald said the system, which includes a tracking device so a traveller’s location is plotted on a map contained within the journal, has been warmly welcomed by parents of younger jetsetters.
The company plans to include a Twitter-style interface into the journal in the coming months so friends and family can post interact with the user.
The system will be integrated onto iPhones and RIM Blackberrys next year, McDonald confirmed.
