Continental Airlines has joined forces with email marketing specialist Silverpop to help increase customer loyalty in the UK and Ireland.

The deal gives Continental access to Silverpop’s Send Time Optimisation tool enabling the airline to send targeted emails when customers are most likely to open them as well as a Share-to-Social service allowing customers to share messages on social networking sites.

Continental Airlines plans to integrate Silverpop’s tools into its existing campaigns which include special fares messages to subscribers, quarterly newsletters and updates on increased services and onboard innovations.

Silverpop already works with a number of travel industry customers including East Coast Trains which extended its reach by placing social media links within its emails with an open rate of 17% on emails that were shared on social networks and a 33% of those opening the link went on to click on the content.
