Luxury tour operator Destinology has launched the Destinology Air Travel Trust to provide extra financial protection for its customers on all package and flight only bookings.

The protection is offered free of charge to all customers and independently administered by Barclays Bank Trust Company Limited.

All Atol related customer money is now placed in a trust account, which guarantees a 100% refund in the event that a supplier collapses.

The trust covers all bookings made with Destinology for package or flight only holidays, whether customers travel by low cost, charter or scheduled airline.

It promises to protect customers from the prospect of being stranded abroad and facing having to pay again for a holiday.  The operator insists there are no loopholes and every aspect of the holiday will be covered, from accommodation to car hire.

Dominic Speakman, founder and chief executive of Destinology, said: “We believe that safeguarding our customers’ money is paramount and that our trust offers the security and peace of mind our customers deserve.

"Our no-delay, no quibble, inclusive protective shield will mean our customers can continue to book with confidence, and at no additional cost."

Destinology's founder is the son of David Speakman, founder and chairman of Travel Counsellors, the UK travel agency that has over 800 UK home-based travel agents and already operates a trust fund to protect customers' money.
