European hotel portal HRS has announced it is raising its stake in reservations service hotel.de to 64.6%.

The deal will see HRS acquire 61.6% of the shares in Nuremberg-based hotel.de that offers 210,000 hotels globally and claims to have four million private and corporate customers.

Hotel.de will continue to operate as a standalone business from its current bases in Germany. As well as hotel.de it also operates the international hotel.info brand.

HRS said the take-over underlined its market leading status in Europe and will help both firms to consolidate their positions in the market.

The HRS portal offers more than 250,000 hotels in 180 countries and the website has around six million users per month.
