Accommodation wholesaler Hotelbeds has forged a strategic alliance with Oracle to develop a technological infrastructure capable of supporting the company’s ambitious expansion plans.

The Tui Travel online firm aims to more than double online accommodation market growth rates of 7.3% by 2015.

Hotelbeds has incorporated Oracle Fusion Middleware solution and Oracle Engineered Systems in order to be capable of responding to the “extraordinary volume” of online transactions. Online business represents 90% of Hotelbeds’ revenues.

A strategic redesign of its technological infrastructure is designed to enable the firm to continue to grow and ensure the availability and reliability of its IT which operates 24x7.

During high season, Hotelbeds claims to achieve more than 400 searches per second and 26,000 room nights sold per day.

The company says the new IT architecture has significantly reduced booking times, as well as actions such as “add to the cart” and product evaluation.
