Tui airline Jetair moves to open source with SkySQL

Jetair, the expanding Belgian arm of the Tui Group, is bringing in open source database technology supplier SkySQL.

The aim is to deliver faster transactions for the operator which deals with 1,800 travel agencies in Belgium and surrounding countries.

Jetair, which handled 2.15 million holidaymakers last year, is using SkySQL’s support for MySQL database servers and additional software tools to monitor MySQL database performance such as MONyog, SQLyog and Zmanda backup.

SkySQL replaces Oracle at Jetair.

Jetair systems engineering team member Peter Vandenberghe said: "The SkySQL migration was painless and resources were saved.”

SkySQL chief executive Patrik Sallner said: “Jetair is an expanding business, taking on more employees and customers.
