A mobile app for hotel booking from ebookers has been made available for Android devices.

The development follows a claimed 102% year-on-year rise in visits to its site via mobile devices with bookings up by 110%.

The company says that 61% of mobile hotel bookings are made within two days or less of the actual stay.

The app for Android is free to download and is available in six languages - English, French, German, Finnish, Dutch and Norwegian.

Product strategy and mobile director Rob Define said: “The launch of the ebookers’ Hotel app for Android users is just one of the many ways we are dedicated to offering an easier booking experience for all our customers.

“We’ve learned a lot about the booking behaviour on mobile devices and this is shaping the way we think about the future of how travel is booked.

“We’re investing heavily in our mobile technology to provide our customers with the best user experience, for whatever type of device they choose.

“With our current successes of mobile bookings to date and as an online travel agent offering flights, hotels and car hire – there are huge opportunities for expansion ahead."
