Greater flexibility to the Thomascook.com website is being provided by travel software specialists Multicom.

This enables dynamic packaging rather than the traditional seven or 14 night package holidays.

Specialist dynamic packaging brand Flexibletrips, which operates on Multicom’s FindandBook platform, is being used as the source for the increased flexibility.

“All that was needed to implement the solution was for Multicom to engineer the technology to allow the dynamic components to be scanned and fed into the Thomas Cook site and then distributed as package holidays by the OTA,” a spokesman said.

Multicom Managing director John Howell said: “Through our existing relationship with the specialist business Flexibletrips we were able to design the system to deliver the solution for Thomas Cook.

“As a result dynamic packages have in effect come full circle and are now providing the elements for package holidays.”

Cook head of IT Matt Smith said the move will "bridge the gap between airline capacity, beds and durations to provide greater flexibility, access to package destinations previously not featured, more hotel choice and a better range of flight options."

He added that this "ultimately provides better choice for our customers by utilising the technology that powers the Flexibletrips business".
