Tourism solutions company New Mind has merged with Scandinavian destination management systems rival tellUs IT.
The new company, New Mind | tellUs, will develop enhanced specialised solutions for destination management organisations.
New Mind claims approximately 60% of the UK market, working with more than 150 destinations across the UK. Clients include Liverpool, Brighton, Bath, Cambridge and Visit Scotland.
Oslo-based tellUs has a similar strength market share across Scandinavia providing solutions for brands such Visit Oslo, Fjord Norway, Wonderful Copenhagen and Visit Denmark.
The merger creates an international company capable of delivering digital solutions to destinations worldwide.
Managing director of UK operations Richard Veal comments: “The adoption of technology in the travel industry is rapid and complex, requiring significant and ongoing investment.
“By coming together, New Mind | tellUs has both the technical resource and the deep knowledge of tourism necessary to meet the specific needs of DMOs”.
The company is working on a major re-development of its technology platform, bringing together features and facilities that have been most successful in their respective markets.
Michael Borge, managing director of Scandinavian operations, said: “Offering the ‘best of both worlds’ is a principle that lies right at the heart of this merger and informs everything we do.
“The next iteration of the platform will offer exciting new opportunities to our clients in the UK and Scandinavia accelerating the exchange of best-practice among destination managers and marketeers.”
He added: “In Scandinavia, this is something that has never been available from a single supplier before, it will be a game-changing offer when it is brought to the market.
“By combining best-of-breed e-tourism technology with leading edge tourism website design and online marketing capabilities, we will enable our destination management organisations to grow their tourism economies in an increasingly competitive global marketplace.”
The as yet un-branded international version of the e-tourism platform will be introduced next year
