A series of digital initiatives designed to simplify the booking process are being introduced as Ryanair revamps its website.
The number of clicks required to make bookings is being cut from 17 to five from November 30, while an intuitive booking flow will help users find the lowest fares on all routes.
The changes to ryanair.com are in addition to the previously announced removal of the Recaptcha for individual bookings from November 1, a 24-hour “grace period” to fix minor errors in bookings and a simpler homepage from November 30.
A ‘My Ryanair’ member service from the end of December will allow passengers to enter their details and store them securely on the site in order to save time when making repeat bookings.
Mobile boarding passes are being introduced from the end of February to will allow passengers to either print boarding passes or download them to smartphones.
A ‘Fare Finder’ feature from April will allow users to search for fares by price point, route and travel period.
A new mobile app will be available from May, making fares and flight information readily available on smartphones and tablet devices., while a ‘Share the Fare’ option will enable customers to find and share fares them on social networks.
Ryanair will release tailored language websites in all major European countries, starting with Spanish and Italian versions by the end of June.
Chief executive Michael O’Leary said: “The Recaptcha security code will disappear on Friday for individual customers.
“Ryanair’s new improved website will be released in just over two weeks and our soon-to-be-delivered features including secure membership, low fares finder, mobile app, mobile boarding passes and individually tailored national websites in our bigger EU markets will help more customers to make great savings and waste less time by booking Ryanair’s flights on the new and seriously improved Ryanair.com website.”
