Sabre Corporation has secured a long-term deal to provide a full suite of technology software to Air Berlin in a switch from rival Amadeus.
The German airline will move to an integrated platform for a range of critical airline operations including SabreSonic Customer Sales & Service (CSS) passenger reservations system, inventory, check-in, e-commerce, data insights and network management.
The two-year transfer to Sabre’s passenger reservations system starts this summer while the airline a will start using Sabre’s network management tools from July.
The deal follows Sabre losing a contract with US carrier Southwest to Amadeus.
Air Berlin chief executive Wolfgang Prock-Schauer said: “With Sabre, we get an integrated solution from a single provider which will enable us to achieve our commercial goals and become more efficient in many areas.
“The move to Sabre supports Air Berlin’s strategy to work with its airline partners, in particular Etihad Airways, to drive business efficiencies and offer an even better, more consistent experience for guests.

Sabre chief executive Tom Klein said: “Europe is a key growth region for Sabre, and Air Berlin joins a growing number of European carriers who have selected Sabre.
