Skyscanner launches India site

Price comparison site Skyscanner has launched a dedicated site for air travel to and from the Indian subcontinent.
Skyscanner has currently concentrated flights within Europe but the addition of fares in and out of India is the first in a series planned expansions for the site.
Since the site launched four years ago it has also set up price comparison functions for flights from Australia to other Pacific rim destinations, plus similar tools for Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore and Malaysia.
Director and co-founder of SkyScanner, Barry Smith, said: “SkyScanner is already an extremely popular resource across Europe and Australasia, aiding searchers who look for ‘pure’ information when looking for flights online.
“The Indian site is key to our global plans, and we are excited to continue with SkyScanner’s worldwide expansion.”
The announcement comes just days after Opodo said it was examining the role of Meta search engines and price comparison sites at an industry conference in Oman.
