Freedom consortium develops ATOL margin tool

Freedom Travel Agents’ Consortium has launched an ATOL booking tool, after admitting some members had found profit margins difficult to manage on dynamically packaged products.
The ATOL Calculator will operate within Freedom’s TARSC system to create costs for products.
Agents will be able to obtain prices based on costs payable to an ATOL-bonded operator and a 15% margin on top.
Freedom general manager Trevor Davis said: “A lot of people don’t realise the confusion a travel agent can face with the vast range of booking options available when dynamic packaging.
“In order to address increased competition from the internet, direct sell from tour operators, reduced commission rates and business overheads, travel agents need to be confident that they are achieving maximum profit margins where possible.”
