Lastminute.com has stepped up its recruitment programme and hired ex-Flight Centre product director Julia Morris to be its new head of holidays.

The appointment ends a nine-month search following the departure of Matt Cheevers to Teletext Holidays.

Morris, who will report to travel director John Bevan, has held senior positions across the industry including head of travel for the UK and Ireland and RCI Europe and Trailfinders.

Lastminute.com is also expected to shortly name its new UK marketing director, replacing Mat Hart who left earlier in the summer.

Bevan said: “We are thrilled that Julia has joined us. Her skills, experience and leadership will be an invaluable asset as we develop our already industry-leading travel team to the next level.”

Morris added: “I am really looking forward to developing the best team, products and services so that we maintain our rightful place at the cutting edge of the industry.”
