Virgin Media has become the latest high profile mobile phone and media company to strike a partnership that will see comprehensive online travel services included on its website.

The deal with TravelSupermarket will see travel search functionality added to its UK website, including flight, hotel and car hire channels.

The Cheshire-based meta search website has previously inked deals with Tiscali, GM.TV, Laterooms and Guardian Unlimited.

The move comes soon after rival meta search site Sidestep signed a deal with Virgin Media competitor Orange to power online travel search facilities on its website.

The white labelling of existing travel products into partner sites, especially in other retail sectors, is being seen by many as an increasingly important way of growing a business in the face of increased competition.

Current partnerships include John Lewis’s Greenbee (Expedia), Woolworths and Asda (PPA), Tesco (Lastminute.com) and the Nectar loyalty card deal with Ebookers and Octopus Travel.

Travelsupermarket managing director Chris Nixon said: “We continue to look for the best partners to work with on a white label basis and are really pleased to add virginmedia.com to our portfolio.

“This also means that we continue to deliver new sources of good, quality traffic to our growing number of providers. Our aim is to continue offering white labelling services and to become a key component in the market.”

TravelSupermarket has this week added Hilton to its portfolio of hotel partners, alongside deals with Hays & Jarvis, Olympic Holidays, Argo Holidays and Kuoni for its package holiday channel.
