Comtec is dipping its toes into mobile communications for the first time with the launch of a new system to allow travel agents to interact with customers via their mobile handsets.

The system has been developed in conjunction with mobile technology company 2Ergo and will operate as a bolt-on to Comtec’s existing TravelCat management system.

Consumers opting in to the service will be able to receive automatic updates from the booking agent to notify them of ticket confirmation, balance details or promotion notices.

Comtec account director Richard Turner said “TravelCat Messaging is all about offering travellers choice and convenience, whilst delivering service differentiation and reduced overheads to travel agents.

“The travel consumer increasingly wants to dictate how and when they receive travel-related information.”

It is hoped the tool will cut administrative overheads with agents as well as providing a cutting edge method of communicating with consumers.
