Lastminute.com has unveiled a major upgrade to its flight booking tool to include early seat selection and the ability to select different carriers for in and outbound trips on the same transaction.

The online travel agency has also created a “flexible calendar” tool to allow users to find the cheapest fares on any given route from within the search module.

Users are able to view prices over a seven-day period via a pop-up system when they search for flights.

The multi-carrier functionality, dubbed ‘Sum of One Ways’, which Lastminute.com claims is a first for the OTA sector, will be available initially on selected routes in Europe.

The seat map tool will allow passengers to select a preferred seat before checking in at the departure airport.

UK managing director John Bevan said: “Lastminute.com aims to provide its customers with the ultimate booking experience.

“We believe the additional functionality means Lastminute.com offers consumers the best tools to find the cheapest and most convenient flights for them.”
