Travel Buddy is to provide flight alerts to Co-Op Travel’s holidaymakers following a deal with the company.

The mobile company, which specializes in location-based information for travellers, has already developed a system for the Co-Op that provides its customers with weather, events and emergency contact numbers relevant to their destination and dates of travel.

As an extension of that, the next phase is an opt-in flight alert service providing customers with the latest flight updates on both their outbound and inbound journeys.

Co-Op is believed to be the first travel company to trial the new product, which is scheduled to go live in the next couple of weeks.

Travel Buddy managing director Adam Winterflood told Travolution the company had also been given the go ahead for another major travel company to go live in the next couple of weeks.

The company signed a five-year deal to provide relevant holiday information to Thomson customers in April and also provides the latest ski reports to First Choice customers.
