Travel community site Trivago.co.uk plans to unveil the latest version of its service later this week with a new design and additional functionality.

The company has developed a ‘fuzzy’ search for the site enabling users to carry out general searches for hotels such as by region, and then filter the results down.

The technology works by initially giving consumers a list of the major cities in an area to help them drill down to what they’re looking for.

Trivago has also just launched a metasearch service on the site enabling travellers to sort hotels by evaluations from reviews.

The site draws reviews from sites including booking.com, expedia, HRS and venere and calculates ratings based on the reviews. The plan is to bring on content from other hotel sites in the future.

Through the metasearch facility trivago now claims to provide more than three million hotel reviews for 120,000 hotels worldwide.
