Teletext Holidays has moved quickly to replace Matt Cheevers who has unexpectedly quit the company after three years.

Bosses at the Daily Mail and General Trust, which owns the Teletext brand as well the Associated Newspapers’ titles, are believed to have promoted sales and distribution director Victoria Sanders to become managing director.

Travolution understands members of staff at Teletext were told today (Fri 30 Jan) that Cheevers is leaving for a new consultancy position outside the DMGT empire.

Cheevers joined Teletext as commercial director from lastminute.com in March 2006 and was promoted to managing director in 2007 following the merger of Teletext Holidays and Teletext TV.

Prior to his position as head of holidays at lastminute.com, Cheevers was commercial manager at Eurostar UK.

Teletext Holidays is one of the most high profile travel brands of the last 20 years but has been usurped by a strong of online players in recent years.

Last year it attempted to move away from the existing advertising model-based with the launch of its own retail wing via the ThisIsTravel brand.
