InterContinental Hotels Group has enlisted its 330,000-strong global workforce as part of a campaign to be launched this week.

The hospitality giant, which includes the Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza brands, is encouraging employees to promote special rates to friends and family via a microsite.

Each employee has been given a personalised page within the site containing details of the promotion, a link to a search and booking page and a printable voucher.

The campaign, which runs until the end of May for stays up to a year in advance, offers discounts of between 20% and 50% depending on the property.

A spokesman for the group said depending on its success the group was hoping the sales channel could become a major source of business for its hotels in the future.

IHG employees are also being encouraged to promote the campaign via their personal pages on social networking sites such as facebook and myspace.
