Microsoft has signed a major agreement with destination content giant Rough Guides to provide detailed information for the UK travel channel on its MSN consumer portal.

The partnership is the start of a wider programme to boost the destination content across the travel pages on MSN including the addition of video.

Rough Guides is penning a series of new guides for MSN as part of the programme, beginning with European destinations and extending to other locations around the world in the coming months.

MSN has also signed deals with Geobeats and Pilotguides to provide video guides of destinations to run alongside the Rough Guides material and relevant other relevant content.

MSN is increasingly focusing its attention to the travel channel on its high ranking consumer portal.

The division recently ran a major cross-product (Hotmail, MSN, Messenger) campaign for Thomas Cook and is said to be “very pleased” with its white label partnership with Ebookers.
