Amadeus and Travelport refuse to comment on merger talks

Global distribution system suppliers Travelport and Amadeus have refused to comment on speculation that they have been in merger talks.
The two companies are believed to have had merger talks over the past few years, but never come to a deal. The Sunday Times reported over the weekend that the two companies finished another round of discussions last week. A merger would create an industry giant worth $12 billion.
Both firms are preparing to float on the stock market. Amadeus is due to list on the Madrid stock market and Travelport is expected to float in London. The newspaper said the latest talks would be the "last hurrah" as discussions would be unlikely after the companies are listed.
Spokesmen for each company refused to comment on the speculation.
