Itinerary specialist Tripit has made its Tripit Pro service available to users outside the US.

The service enables travellers to monitor their trips on the go, receive flight alerts and search for alternatives.

Tripit Pro now includes the major European airlines as well as other carriers outside of the US. According to co-founder and vice president of business development Scott Hintz the service covers about 86% of flights globally.

It also links in to frequent flier programmes to provide updates on rewards and display recent activity.

Other features include an API enabling travellers to provide access to their itinerary to others.

Hintz said that since the launch of its iPhone application in April companies were developing applications to be compatible with Tripit.

“It’s exciting for us because there are thousands of applications that can tap in to your Tripit data and it establishes us as the place to go for travel.”

He added that links with expense applications and a Tripit button on discount travel site Hotwire were in the pipeline.
