TUI tipped for big Jamaica deal

TUI Travel has been talking to the Jamaican government about bringing in a guaranteed number of tourists to the island, according to local reports.
Edmund Bartlett, minister of tourism, is reported to have said: "Discussions are very advanced. We have just concluded a letter of intent, which will create the framework for the agreement to follow by January 31, 2010.”
No firm details have emerged, although the tourism minister hinted that part of the Jamaican government’s tourism budget would be earmarked to support the deal with TUI.
TUI already brings in 70,000 vistirs per annum to Jamaica.
The TUI execs involved in discussions were Tim Williamson, customer director and David Burling, commercial director from TUI UK & Ireland and Johan Lundgren, Managing Director, Northern Region.
