Sabre Travel Network has announced it will extend its US AgentStream travel agent community to the UK this quarter.

The free service offers agents their own blog and access to a Q&A forum, and allows them to participate in private and public groups, communicate by email and to share ideas and tips.

Travel Technology EuropeLaunched in September last year, AgentStream won a silver award from Travel Weekly US in its 2009 Magellan Awards programme.

The system was developed from Sabre’s own in-house technology, which allows its 8,500 employees, 50% of which are based in offices outside the US around the globe, to communicate.

Agents using any GDS will be able to create a profile, something Sabre believes is key in Europe, where agencies often use multiple GDSs.

The community will be marketed in the UK through newsletters and other direct communications to the trade.

Martin Cowley, Sabre senior vice president, said: “Our industry is probably the most dynamic in the world, with suppliers, technology providers, and other parties constantly introducing and changing travel products and solutions.

“AgentStream provides an easy to use business to business community where agents can learn from their peers, chare best practice and help their companies make more money, save money and deliver superior service.”

The US version has seen 2,500 create profiles since its launch last September.
