Russian travel agency chain Sputnik has become the latest retailer to sign up for a web-based booking tool powered by Travelport.

The deal has been struck through Travelport’s Russian partner AlpOnline.

It enables Sputnik to access AlpOnline’s online flight search and booking tool provided by Galileo Web Services technology, which includes scheduled and low-cost airline content available on the Travelport platform.

Sputnik has more than 350 offices in both Russia and CIS.

The agency’s general director Sergey Kulko said: “Since the start of our relationship with AlpOnline, we have seen sales of air tickets increase considerably.

“Agents benefit from full content, a user-friendly interface and the assistance of support staff.

“We have received a lot of positive feedback from agents and tourists, which is reflected in our weekly sales statistics and I am confident that our sales will go from strength to strength thanks to the Travelport service.”
