Click Travel has unveiled a rail booking platform with direct connections to rail companies’ inventory.

The travel management company has developed the technology in-house and is hoping to offer customers an alternative to the dominance of existing players, theTrainLine and Evolvi.

Click Travel’s managing director Simon McLean said the platform was part of the company’s strategy to provide value to its customers by stripping out intermediary costs.

He added that the development of the platform had taken two years and described it as the company’s ‘biggest challenge to date’ because of complex regulations.

McLean said there was no intention to offer the platform to other businesses as a b2b solution and that development costs would be recouped through Click Travel’s own business.

The platform also enables travellers to gain pre-trip approval for rail.
