TravelCube bounces into the flash sales arena

Kuoni-owned online bed bank TravelCube is to enter the competitive flash sale market with a weekly ‘Bounce Deals’ service for travel agents.

In a first for the company, updated offers will be available to travel agents via a log-in on a secure website.  Deals will be skewed towards popular properties for weekly durations, offering “heavy discounts”.

Sister firm, the wholesaler Gullivers Travel Associates, which Kuoni bought in March for $720 million, will negotiate the weekly deals with suppliers.

TravelCube said the deals will not be available on the open market. Doros Theodorou, senior director Europe retail at TravelCube, said:

“We have seen the popularity of consumer retail sites such as Groupon, where users are becoming increasingly savvy to flash sales.

“We wanted to offer something unique to travel agents and TravelCube’s Bounce Deals offer travel agents heavily discounted offers and a commission in the process.”

TravelCube’s Weekly Bounce Deals are due to go on sale on October 17 in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK.
